The ivy league is clearly very well endowed. Harvard has the largest endowment, with over 50 billion dollars. An interesting thing to note is that these endowments are often managed in a way that is akin to hedge funds, with the people employed to manage endowments paid large bonuses for higher returns. In fact, 2021 marked a year with some of the highest returns ever posted for these endowments. For example, UPenn's investments returned a whopping 41% of UPenns total endowment. Harvard posted similarly large gains of 33.6 percent.
