Continuing with my analysis of the FAANG(Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google), I thought it would be interesting to take a look at Facebook's efforts to crack down on misinformation, particularly through their deleting of fake accounts. From the chart, its clear that 2019 is when Facebook began seriously ramping up its crackdown on fake accounts. This makes sense, as in 2019, fears about Russian interference in the US election were being brought up again as the 2020 election cycle began ramping up.Also, in July, Facebook was slapped with a $5 billion dollar fine for its mishandling of user data, first brought to light in the Cambridge Analytica case. It seems that Facebook was trying to emphasize its increased efforts to combat the things it had been criticized for in the past.
